Prior to and during the July Uprising, the campus of Jagannath University (JnU) became the site of violent actions orchestrated by the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). In response, the JnU branch of Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) submitted a memorandum demanding the prosecution of Chhatra League members and their collaborators, urging a thorough investigation and appropriate punishment for their actions.

On Thursday, February 6, the memorandum was presented to the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, by Chhatra Dal's Convener Mehedi Hasan Hemal, Member Secretary Shamsul Arefin, and other key members of the organization.
The memorandum condemns the Chhatra League's terrorist activities under the fascist rule of Sheikh Hasina, calling for those responsible to be tried and punished accordingly. It also demands a fair investigation into the role of the Awami League's collaborators and appropriate measures taken against them.

The document recalls the horrific violence perpetrated by Chhatra League and its associates against students during the public uprising of July and August. Many students were injured or killed in these brutal attacks.

The memorandum stresses the need to honour the unparalleled sacrifices made by the student body and general public during the uprising, demanding that the authorities swiftly address these claims.
