Baitul Aman, a memorial to Awami League, has been demolished by agitated students and people at Chashara area in Narayanganj city.

The vandalism was carried out with an excavator on Thursday evening.
Earlier, a protest procession, led by Narayanganj Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) convener Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan and member secretary Advocate Abu Al Yusuf Khan Tipu was held in the area.

Later the agitated people gathered in front of Baitul Aman. Then they started vandalizing with excavators.

Baitul Aman is ancestral house of former Member of Parliament (MP) Shamim Osman. The founding meeting of Awami League was supposed to be held in this house.

However, the meeting was held at the Rose Garden in Dhaka due to obstruction by Pakistani police force.
