One held with drugs in Chandpur

Joint forces arrested an alleged drug peddler during a raid at Faridganj upazila in Chandpur district.

The arrested man is Habibur Rahman Babu, 43, a resident of East Charpara area under Raipur upazila in Laxmipur district.

According to police sources, Habibur had been involved in drug smuggling for a long time. He is accused of 11 cases with different police stations.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Bangladesh Army and a team of police from Faridganj Police Station jointly conducted a raid at Charmandari area under South Rupsa union in the upazila and arrested Habib along with 227 pieces of Yaba pills and around Tk 45 thousand in cash.

Faridganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) confirmed the detention, adding that he had been produced before the court after a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
