Chittagong Kings fast bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed would have to overcome a tough hurdle if he wants to eclipse Taskin Ahmed as the highest wicket-taker in the 11th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Playing for Durbar Rajshahi, which failed to confirm the playoffs, Taskin ended with 25 wickets from 12 matches. His tally of wicket is the highest by any bowler in BPL history, surpassing the 23 wickets of Shakib Al Hasan.
Khaled, along with two Pakistan recruits Akif Javed and Faheem Ashraf, is behind Taskin with 20 wickets. While Akif Javed's team Rangpur Riders bowed out of the tournament after losing the Eliminator game against Khulna Tigers, Faheem's Barishal is still the contender of the trophy. But Faheem left the team after being called up for Pakistan's Champions Trophy-bound squad.
So Khaled is the only genuine contender of Taskin in this regard. But taking five wickets in a T20 matches is one of the toughest jobs in the world. He needs five wickets to touch Taskin and six wickets to end the tournament as highest wicket-taker.
Chittagong however pinned hope on the inform bowlers to do the job. If he can do it, the chance of Chittagong for their maiden BPL title will be brightened. BSS
