3 held with 11 endangered capped langurs in Jatrabari

Detective Branch (DB) arrested three individuals allegedly while smuggling rare species of capped langurs from capital�s Jatrabari area on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, Dhaka Metropalitan DB-wari branch team conducted a drive around 8:50 AM and arrested the accused with 11 endangered species of capped langurs from Matuail area in Jatrabari.

The arrested men are Emran Hosain, 28, Md Sohag, 39, and Md Asif, 23.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Media and PR) of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the detention in a press release.

According to the press release, the seized rare species were collected from Chattogram hill tracks area and transport to Satkhira border via Dhaka for smuggling.

A mobile court ordered them to lands in jail and fined in different under the Wildlife Conservation and Security Act 2012.
