The members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Thursday afternoon arrested a youth while entering the country from India illegally.
He was arrested from Phulbari border area in in Kurigram district around 7:00 PM.
The arrested was identified as Nayan Mia, 26, son of Badsha Mia, a resident of Bagotia village in Dhaka.
According to BGB sources, a patrol team of BGB, led by subedar Alamgir Hossain, conducted a drive in the area along International main pillar no-934 and arrested Nayan while he was entering the country without any valid documents.
He was later handed over to the police on Thursday evening.
Confirming the matter, Phulbari Police Station officer-in-charge Mamunur Rashid said that a Bangladeshi youth was handed over to them. The process of filing a case against the youth was underway, the OC added.
Nayan, however, said that he went to India for work ten years ago in exchange of Tk 10,000 through a middleman.
BGB personnel caught him red-handed while he was entering the country from India illegally in exchange of Tk 12,000, he added.
