Police have arrested 40 leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, Sramik League and Chhatra League in Chittagong.

The arrestees are Haji Jafar Ahmed, 62, Amzad Hossain Shipon, 40, Mahfuzur Rahman Farhad, 35, Syed Mahmudul Hasan, 38, Abdur Rahman Sabuj, 36, Shafiul Alam Sabuj, 55, Selim, 48, Abdur Rahim, 49, Arif, 31, Shafi Alam, 40, Abdul Shukkur, 58, Imtiaz Hossain Isit, 28, Asifur Rahman Fahim, 27, Shahidul Islam, 27. 30, Md. Nasir Uddin, 45, Md. Jahed, 25, Forman Ahmed, 37, Nizam Uddin Rubel, 40, Md. Farhadul Islam, 45, Kashme, 34, Md. Arfi Ullah Iftu, 25, Md. Nasir Ahmed, 40, Anwar Hossain, 50, Md. Jahed alias Jahid, 30, Md. Imran Hossain Simon, 20, Alamgir, 45, Md. Iqbal Hossain, 42, Shariful Islam Hridoy, 24, Md. Faruk, 24, The convicts are Md Farhan Reza, 22, Md Emran, 25, Md Nasir Uddin, 45, Md Sahab Uddin, 36, Md Nurul Alam Prakash Tandol, 62, Md Jasim Uddin, 38, Shahidul Islam Minhaj, 19, Rashedul Azad Faim, 18, Karimul Haque, 48, Adnan Mahfuz alias Sajib, 42, and Rezaul Karim alias Imran, 53.
In the last 24 hours, 40 people, including the accused in the case filed over the attack on the anti-discrimination student movement, have been arrested.
There are several cases against them under the Special Powers Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act, including attacks on students and people during the anti-discrimination student movement, it added.
