The village house of actress Meher Afroz Shaon, widow of late acclaimed writer Humayun Ahmed, was set on fire by a group of angry mobs on Thursday evening.
The fire incident happened at Narundi village under sadar upazila in Jamalpur around 6:00 PM.
Witnesses said that a group of angry mob gathered at Norundi Bazar and brought out a procession there and chanted different slogans.
Later, they went to Meher Afroz Shaon�s father house and set fire to the two-storied building.
Shaon�s father, engineer Mohammad Ali, and her mother, Tahura Ali, were the former law makers.
Recently, actress Shaon's various comments and her stances against the interim government have sparked controversy everywhere, including on social media. Local students and the public became enraged and attacked and set fire to her father's house, calling her a "symbol of autocracy's broker".
Jahangir Alam, a resident in the area, said that students and locals brought out a protest procession in Narundi Bazar before evening. Later, they went to the house of Shaon's father, engineer Mohammad Ali, and set the two-story building on fire.
