Demanding fair justice and public recognition, family members of the July Mass Uprising martyrs staged a demonstration blocking Shahbagh on Thursday noon.

Hundreds of the victims family members gathered at Shahbagh intersection area and later sit-in there around 11:00 AM, causing a halt in traffic and creating difficulties for the city commuters.
They were found holding photographs of the deceased and placards calling for justice.

Some of the protesters raised allegations of indifference and negligence of the government over justice.

They urged for the swift extradition of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India to face trial.

The families claimed that they had been trying to meet the Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus for months but they did not get any chance to do that.

They also demanded capital punishment for the accused involved in the inhuman attack on the students during the July Mass Uprising.

Expressing deep frustration, they questioned that why no significant progress had yet been come into force even after six months of the mass killing.

A parent, who lost his child during the uprising, alleged that they went to the countless doors of different people seeking justice and recognition but they had been neglected and disrespected by them.
