A student of Barishal University (BU) has been sent to jail in a case filed for attempting to rape his batch mate.
The accused student is Abdul Kadir Sohan, 25, a final year student of political science department at BU, hailed from Savar�s Malancha area.
Barishal Metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Amin Nazin ordered to send him jail on Wednesday, said GRO Md Harun.
Metropolitan Bandar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said that Kadir's batch mate victim filed a case over attempt to rape with the police station and the university proctorial team handed the accused over to the police station on Tuesday.
According to the case statement, the accused proposed the victim, a final year student of soil and environment department at the same university, several times but she refused. On Tuesday afternoon, the accused met with her at fifth floor of the Administrative Building-1 and attempt to molest her.
However, she became injured and shouted.
Later, students noticed the incident and rescued her.
