Three people have died reportedly after drinking toxic liquor in Mymensingh�s Gafargaon uapzila on Thursday.
The incident took place at Choromcholonda Modipara village in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Sumon Mia, 35, son of Abdu Rashid, a resident of the same village, Abdul Jalil, 53, of Tamadipara village and Nizam Uddin, son of Masud Miah of Shohelpur village under sadar upazila in Brahmanbaria district.
According to locals, four people reportedly consumed toxic alcohol and got sick in the area early Thursday.
Later, locals rescued them and took them to Gaforgaon Upazila Health Complex for treatment where the on-duty doctors declared Sumon dead upon arrival and referred Abdul Jalil and Nizam to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) as their health conditions deteriorated.
The doctors later declared the duo dead, said Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital Police Camp Sub-Inspector Shofiq Uddin.
They died from taking excessive toxic alcohol, the SI added.
