Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained Tamanna Zerin, mastermind behind a human trafficking network from Bangladesh to Russia, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Thursday morning.
She was detained on Thursday morning as she was staying there to flee to Nepal.
Tamanna Zerin is accused in a human trafficking case filed with Banani Police Station, CID sources said.
There is an allegation that the individuals trafficked through her, were coerced into fighting for Russia against Ukraine.
Humayun Kabir, who was forcibly deployed to the frontlines of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, lost his life in a drone attack on January 23. But his brother-in-law Rahmat Ali survived and want to return home.
The families informed that Humayun and Rahmat travelled to Russia on December 30 through a travel agency named Dream Home Travel and Tours Limited, based in Dhaka.
After the news spread, the law enforcement agencies increased the surveillance.
