1 killed, 20 injured in Gopalganj road crash

A man was killed and at least 20 people were injured in a four-vehicle collision in Gopalganj on Thursday due to dense fog.

The accident occurred early in the morning at Shoshgati bus stand under Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
The dead was covered van driver Ali Raj, son of Md. Mizanur Rahman of Gandaria area in Pirojpur.

Police and Fire Service said that a passenger bus, belonging to Tungipara Express, collided head-on with a truck when it reached the area. At that time, a covered van heading to Gopalganj from Dhaka collided with the two vehicles. In addition, another truck heading to Dhaka from Gopalganj collided with the three vehicles.

The covered van driver died on the spot and 20 people were injured.

Later, on information, fire service personnel went to the spot and rescued the injured and sent to Gopalganj General Hospital.
