Golam Quddus remembered as a pioneer of garment industry

A condolence meeting and prayer was held at Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in memory of the organization's former president and freedom fighter Mostafa Golam Quddus. 

Apart from serving as president of BGMEA, he was also a prominent social worker, renowned industrialist, one of the pioneers of the ready-made garment industry and the founding chairman of Dragon Group, Rupali Life Insurance and Sonali Life Insurance Company Limited.

The condolence meeting, organized by BGMEA joint council, was held at its auditorium and was chaired by former BGMEA president and president of the joint council Kazi Moniruzzaman. 

BGMEA Administrator Md. Anwar Hossain, former presidents of BGMEA - Redwan Ahmed, SM Fazlul Haque, Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), Faruk Hasan, Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, two panels leaders, BGMEA Board of Directors Abul Kalam and Mahmud Hasan Khan (Babu), and the son of late Mustafa Golam Quddus, Mustafa Q. Subhan (Rubel) and daughter Tasnia Kamran Anika among others attended the meeting.

At the condolence meeting, BGMEA members prayed for the eternal peace of their late leader. They also remembered various aspects of his life, especially the strong leadership he gave for the welfare of the garment industry as a visionary leader.
Speakers said garment industry reached at its outstanding position by his relentless contribution in many fields. Especially, the sweater industry developed in this country in his hands, which opened new horizons in the national economy. This has created employment opportunities for millions of people.

Not only that, Mustafa Golam Quddus also played a leading role in combating Harkin Bills related to child labor and launched the 'Earn and Learn' program, which is widely appreciated worldwide, the speakers said.

They said the visionary industry leader was a heroic freedom fighter and dedicated himself to the development and welfare of Bangladesh and its people, speakers said.
