Two people found dead in Manikganj, Rangamati

A woman and a man were found dead in separate incidents in two districts - Manikganj and Rangamati.

MANIKGANJ: Police recovered the throat-slit body of a housewife from her residence in Ghior Upazila of the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sumaiya Akter, 40, wife of Mostaq Ahmed, a resident of Thakurkandi Village under the upazila.

It was known that the throat-slit body of Sumaiya was found in the house at around 12 am.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ghior Police Station (PS) Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said, it is initially seemed that miscreants killed housewife Sumaiya Akter at around 8 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday.

However, the law enforcers detained the deceased's neighbour Bappi Khandaker, 18, for questioning and legal action would be taken after investigation, the OC added.

RANGAMATI: Police recovered the body of a brick kiln worker in Kawkhali Upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Titu, 35, a resident of Raozan Upazila in Chattogram District. He used to work as an engine mechanic at Shamim Brick Kiln in Raozan.

Police sources said that locals spotted the body of Titu lying on an abandoned brick kiln in Betbunia Duckbunglow area in the evening and informed the matter to the law enforcers.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene.

Kawkhali PS OC Saiful Islam Shohag confirmed the recovery, saying that the body bore several injury marks on its face.

However, the law enforcers are investigating the matter and legal action would be taken in this regard, the OC added.
