Six held over open firing during Savar clash

Police arrested six individuals allegedly over firing bullets during a series of chase and counter-chase between two rivals over taking control of a jhoot (textile waste) business at Ashulia in Savar on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the evening near Prudent Fashion Ltd area of Baipail Kaichabari in Ashulia.

According to locals, one Harun has been running the jhoot business with the factory for a long time. However, since the fall of Awami League regime, another Alamgir has been conducting demonstrations in the area, attempting to overtake control of the business which led to a clash between them.

Additionally, during chase and counter-chase, several rounds of gun fire have been reported.

On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested six individuals involved in the clash.

Police sources confirmed the detention without details information and said that the arrested are affiliated with Alamgir's group.

Ashulia Model Police Station inspector (investigation) Kamal Hosain said that 35 locally made arms were also recovered from their possessions.
