Govt to procure 1 lakh MTs fertilizer, 10,000 MTs lentil

The government approved separate proposals for procuring some one lakh Metric Tons (MTs) of fertilizer and 10,000 MTs of lentil to meet the growing demand of the country.
The approval came from this year's 6th meeting of Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday with Adviser to the interim government on the Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would procure 10,000 MTs of lentil locally by Open Tender Method (OTM) from Nabil Naba Foods Limited with around Taka 97.92 crore with per kg lentil costing Taka 97.22.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure some 40,000 MTs of DAP fertilizer under the 2nd lot from MA'ADEN, Saudi Arabia under state-level agreement with around Taka 298.16 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $611.
In response to a proposal from the Ministry of Industries, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia, under the 16th lot with around Taka 144.62 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $395.16.
The BCIC will purchase 30,000 MTs of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh with around Taka 142.64 crore for the current fiscal year (FY25) with per ton fertilizer to cost $389.75.
The day's ACCGP meeting approved another proposal from the Ministry of Industries under which two buffer godowns would be constructed in two districts - Magura (15,000 MTs) and Chandpur (10,000 MTs) of the country.
The two buffer godowns will be constructed under the 1st revised project for construction of some 34 buffer godowns in different parts of the country for preservation of fertilizer and its distribution.
The government also approved separate proposals for procuring some 40,000 Metric Tons (MTs) of phosphoric acid to meet the growing demand of the country.
Following a proposal of Ministry of Industries, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure 20,000 MTs of phosphoric acid for DAPFCL with around Taka 152.02 crore from M/S Sun International FZE UAE, (Guiangxi Pengyue Eco-technology Co Ltd, China and M/s Foskor Pty Ltd South Africa).
Following another proposal of Ministry of Industries, the BCIC would procure 20,000 MTs of phosphoric acid for DAPFCL with around Taka 150.73 crore from M/S Sun International FZE UAE (Local Agent: Agro Industrial Input, Dhaka, Manufacturer: M/S Guiangxi Pengyue Eco-technology Co Ltd, China and M/s Foskor Pty Ltd South Africa).
