In protest against the detention of three students by the police, a group of students staged a demonstration in front of Uttara East Police Station before attacking Uttara West Police Station.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening when anti-discrimination student activists carried out the attack at Uttara West Police Station.
During the attack, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mahadev, who was on duty at the time, sustained injuries, claimed police sources.

According to police sources, the conflict began in the afternoon when students of the anti-discrimination movement organized a meeting on Gausul Azam Avenue in Uttara Sector 13 to form a local committee. During the gathering, the police detained three students—Akash, Robin, and Bappi—and took them to the station.

Students alleged that their fellow activists were first taken to Uttara East Police Station. However, upon reaching there, they discovered that the detainees were actually under the custody of Uttara West Police Station. This enraged the students, leading them to hurl bricks and stones at the station and attack its main gate.
Several sources from both Uttara West Police Station and the detective branch confirmed the attack. The inspector (investigation) of Uttara West Police Station stated that the assault took place as an attempt to free the detained students.

Upon learning of the attack, senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Uttara Division Rownak Jahan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ahmed Ali, and Assistant Commissioner Saddam Hossain, rushed to the scene.

Police later held discussions with the protesting students inside the computer lab of Uttara East Police Station, which eventually calmed the situation following police assurances.
