Illegal fishing nets worth Tk 101cr seized in Munshiganj

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) on Tuesday, conducted several drives and seized 2.90 crore meters of illegal fishing nets from Munshiganj.

Media officer of BCG headquarter Lt Commander  Md Siam-Ul-Hoque confirmed the information.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of coast guard conducted the drive into six different factories adjacent to Dhopabari area in Munshiganj Sadar upaizla around 3:00 PM and seized around the huge consignment of illegal fishing nets and six thousand pieces of thread reels, he said.

The estimated market value of the seized goods around Tk 101 crore, said the commander.

Later, the seized goods were destroyed in present of Sadar upazila Senior Fisheries officer, added the coast guard official.
