Police arrested three individuals, including two women, along with 40 kilograms of hemp and 365 pieces of Yaba pills from Joypurhat Sadar upazila on Tuesday evening.
The drive was conducted near Sonamukhi Mosque area along the Akkelpur-Bogura road of the upazila.
The arrested are Rubel Hossain, 25, a resident of Shuvopur area in Cumilla's Kotwali, Nasrin Akter, 25, of Chaikot village in the same district and Nazma, 42, wife of Bachchu Mia of Shakhdarpara area in Joypurhat district.
According to Akkelpur police station officer-in-charge Anisur Rahman, a team of police set up a check-post after being received an information that a private car had been stolen from Cumilla. While patrolling, the law enforcers waylaid a car and arrested the trio red-handed along with 40 kilograms of hemp and 365 pieces of Yaba pills from their possessions.
The process of filing a case against the trio was underway, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against them.
