A septuagenarian woman was reportedly beaten to death by her neighbor over repayment of loan at Bagachra upazila in Jashore district on Tuesday.
The incident happened at Pipragachhi village in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Rahima Khatin, 70, wife of Nabisaddin Gazi of the village.
It was learnt that Opu Hossain, 30, son of Abdus Samad took some money from Mizanur, son of Rahima. The members of the two families used to lock into altercation over the issue.
On Tuesday noon, an altercation erupted between Rahima and Opu over the issue and at one stage, Opu beat Rahima up and dragged her on a street, leaving her critically injured.
Later, she was rescued and taken to the Sharsha Upazila Health Complex, later she was shifted to Jashore Sadar Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
