Bangladesh and Greece discuss strengthening global peace efforts

Bangladesh Ambassador Nahida Rahman Shumona met with Greek Ambassador Maria Theofili, Head of Greece’s UN Security Council Task Force, to explore avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation and joint efforts in promoting global peace. 

The meeting underscored the deep-rooted ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to international stability.  
Ambassador Shumona extended her congratulations to Greece on its recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term, recognizing its diplomatic contributions to global governance. Discussions focused on Bangladesh’s significant role in UN peacekeeping missions and the necessity of collective action in addressing global conflicts. Particular attention was given to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the need to safeguard the rights of women and children in conflict zones.  

During the meeting, Bangladesh sought Greece’s support within the UN Security Council for its peace and security initiatives. Both ambassadors reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration on pressing global challenges.
