Cumilla GOC meets family of slain Jubo Dal leader

The family members of Jubo Dal leader Touhidul Islam, who was killed in Cumilla, met with Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, GOC of the army's 33rd Infantry Division.

The family, including Touhidul's wife and elder brother, met at the GOC's office in Cumilla Cantonment on Monday (February 3) night.
At that time, the GOC expressed grief over the death of Touhidul Islam. He said that the investigation process is already underway. The culprits will be brought to justice quickly. The army will always be by Touhid's family and children's side regarding their future security and will provide all kinds of assistance.

Touhidul's elder brother Abul Kalam Azad Tipu said, "Five of us, including Touhid's wife, met on Monday night. In the meeting, we requested that those who fraudulently filed false allegations against Touhid at the army camp, including those involved in the murder, be brought to justice quickly." He also said that preparations for a case in this incident are underway.

On January 31, at around 2:30 am, Touhidul Islam was taken from his house by a team of joint force on charges of having weapons. The next day, on Friday, at around 12 pm, family members learned through Kotwali Model Police Station that he had been rescued from the banks of the Gomti River and sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital. Touhid's body was found at the hospital.

The deceased, Touhidul Islam, was son of the late Mokhlesur Rahman of Italla village under Panchthabi union of Cumilla Sadar Upazila. He was the convener of the Panchthabi Union Jubo Dal. He worked at a shipping agent company in the Port of Chittagong.
