A court in Dhaka has ordered to begin the trial of TikToker Abdullah Al Mamun alias Prince Mamun through charge framing in a case filed on charges of raping and attempting to kill a woman named Laila Akhter Farhad on promise of marriage.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mahbubul Haque on Tuesday dismissed his acquittal application and passed this order.
The magistrate also set March 1 for testimony in the case.
Prince Mamun has been arrested from the Daudkandi Toll Plaza on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway following a case filed by the woman TikToker with Dhaka Cantonment Police Station on June 9, 2024.
According to the case statemment, Prince Mamun promised the woman marriage before raping her several times.
The woman said they met through social media around three years ago. They moved in together at the woman's house in the capital on January 7, 2022, after they developed a romantic relationship. Mamun’s parents also started living with them during that time.
The woman mentions that Mamun violated her last on March 14 of this year. And when she asked him to get married to her, he physically and verbally assaulted her.
