Woman's body found in Bagerhat pond

The body of a woman was recovered from a pond in Bagerhat's Fakirhat upazila on Tuesday morning.

Police recovered the half-melted body, tied with bricks and a black rope around its neck, from the pond of former UP member Soleman Sheikh at Joypur village under the upazila.
The dead was identified as Sharmin, 31, daughter of late Karim Molla, hailed from Narail's Aladadpur.

Police said the UP member's family went to the pond in the morning to wash their dishes and found the body floating there and informed police.

On  information, a police team led by Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Circle) Rabiul Islam Shamim inspected the scene. Later, the body was recovered from the pond and sent to morgue.

The police official said the body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. However, efforts are underway to find out why and who killed her.
