Schoolgirl raped, murdered in city

Police have recovered the body of a schoolgirl, who was allegedly killed after gang rape, from Hatirjheel Lake in the capital. Police, however, arrested two youths--Rabin and Rabbi for their involvement in the crime.

Rabin is a driver by profession. The accused admitted their crime to police and said that they called the girl at a flat at Mohakhali in the capital. Later, Rabin and four others gang raped her with hands and legs tied with and later killed her. The police recovered the body on Sunday. The victim was a student of Class-VIII and a resident of Dakkhinkhan in the capital. She went out of the house to buy something on January 16. Deputy Police Commissioner of Uttara Division Rawnak Jahan disclosed these at a press briefing held at DMP's media centre on Monday.
The victim's father lodged a general diary on January 19 and, later, filed a case on January 27. Police on January 30 arrested Rabin and according to his statement, police arrested Mridha, another associate of Rabin.
