Students should learn English as practical skills

Dear Sir,

In today's globalized world, English has become an essential skill for communication and career advancement. However, the current educational system often treats it as a theoretical subject rather than a practical skill, leaving many students unprepared for real-world use. This is particularly evident among rural students who struggle with English communication, limiting their opportunities for success.

To bridge this gap, it is crucial to shift the focus towards teaching English as a skill for effective communication. The curriculum should center on real-life scenarios, integrating local contexts, and using interactive methods like role-playing and discussions. Additionally, cross-cultural exchanges through online platforms or international collaborations can significantly enhance students' English proficiency while broadening their cultural understanding.

Equipping teachers with professional development focused on practical language use is also essential. By prioritizing skill development over rote memorization, students will be better prepared to navigate competitive global environments and gain confidence in their English communication abilities.

This approach will not only improve students' English skills but also open up greater personal and professional opportunities, ultimately preparing them for the challenges of a globalized world.
