Three crushed under train in Sirajganj, Dinajpur

Three people were crushed under train in separate incidents in two districts - Sirajganj and Dinajpur.

SIRAJGANJ: An elderly man was crushed under a train in Sadar Upazila of the district on Monday morning. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

It was known that a train hit the man near Shaheed M Mansur Ali Station on the Dhaka-Ishwardi rail route in the morning, leaving him dead on the spot.

Locals then spotted the body and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, Railway police recovered the body from the scene at around 10:30 am and sent it to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sirajganj Bazar Railway Police Station (PS) Dulal Uddin confirmed the incident.

DINAJPUR: A truck driver and his associate were killed as a train hit their vehicle in Birampur Upazila of the district early Monday.

The accident took place near Birampur Railway Station in the upazila at around 1 am.

One of the deceased was identified as Arif Hasan, son of Ashraful Islam, a resident of Bhojonpur Village under Tentulia Upazila in Panchagarh District.

Confirming the incident, Birampur PS OC Momtazul Haque said that the Dhaka-bound Ekota Express Intercity train hit a stone-laden truck while the truck was crossing the railway line at around 1 am, which left the front part of the truck twisted and its helper dead on the spot and the driver seriously injured.

Locals then rescued the truck driver and took to a local hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival, the OC added.
