The ferry services on Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia river routes resumed on Sunday morning following suspension caused by the dense fog on Saturday night.
Nasir Chowdhury, deputy general manager (DGM) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) in Aricha, said the ferry services on the both routes resumed at 8:30 am and 9 am respectively after eight, and 10 and half hours of suspension, UNB reports.
The authorities were allowing passenger buses and freight trucks to cross the Meghna and Jamuna rivers on priority basis.
Earlier on Saturday night, the authority suspended the ferry services, causing more than 600 vehicles stuck at the terminals on Saturday night.
The stranded vehicles included freight trucks, night coaches, passenger buses, private cars, microbuses, and some pick-up vans carrying perishable goods.
