A local trader sustained bullet wounds in an attack brought out by a group of miscreants at Singra upazila in Natore district on Saturday.
The injured is Osman Gani Babu, 52, son of late Abdul Pramanik of Chougram Paruharpara under the upazila. He is a rice trader by profession and an alleged activist of Awami League.
The incident took place in front of a local mosque around 6 AM.
Locals said that Osman Gani was heading to the mosque to perform Fazr prayer when the miscreants shot him.
Hearing gunshot, locals rushed to rescue him and took to the Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the Imam of the mosque, Maolana Firoj.
Dr Mujahidul Islam Khokan, Singra upazila health and family planning officer, stated that the injured was given primary treatment and referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Singra Model Police Station officer-in-charge Asmaul Hoque confirmed the incident and said that investigation is ongoing in this regard.
