Vessel capsizes in Rupsha river

A lighter vessel capsized in the Rupsha River after colliding with a pillar of the Rupsha rail bridge in Khulna on Thursday night.

The capsized vessel is 'MV Seven Circle-23', was carrying 1,175 tonnes of cement clinkers.

The information was confirmed by Lieutenant Commander Md Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters.

He said that the ship was damaged about 2 feet below the water level, causing water to begin entering the vessel.

On information, the Coast Guard rushed to the scene and found that more than half of the anchored lighter ship had sunk .

All 13 crew members were rescued safely, he added.
