One held on gold smuggling charge in Patuakhali

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested an alleged gold smuggler from Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali district early Wednesday.

The detained is Bidhan Chandra Bishwas, from Baherchar village under Kachipara union of the upazila.

He was arrested from his native village at round 4 AM on Wednesday during a drive conducted by the DB team.
Confirming the detention, Patuakhali DB officer-in-charge (OC) Jasim Uddin said that detainee has several cases on gold smuggling with different police station in the capital.

DMP�s DB inspector Masud also confirmed the detention and said that investigation is going on in this regard.
