Eight tourists injured as 'chander gari' overturned in Rangamati

Eight tourists were injured after a jeep, carrying tourists, overturned in Rangamati's Baghaichhari upazila on Monday.

The incident happened at around 12:00noon in the Machalang Ekuzzasari North para area under Sajek union in the upazila.

Locals and police said that a jeep, locally known as Chander Gari, carrying 12 tourists, overturned while heading to Sajek Valley from Baghaihat Bazar, leaving seven to eight people injured.

The identitied of the injured could not be immediately known.

Kanan Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Sajek Police Station, said " Two were critically injured among the eight. Among the two, one's hand is broken. The two were taken to Khagrachari by the authorities. The rest of the injured were taken to Sajek. Legal steps will be taken if any complaint is lodged."
