Police early Sunday recovered the hanging body of a female student of Jagannath University (JnU) from a mess at Kather Puler Tonuganj Lane area in old Dhaka.
The deceased was identified as Sabrina Rahman Shammi, a third year student of the Social Science Department at the university.
Sutrapur Police Station Officer In-Charge M Shaiful Islam said that Shammi used to live in a room of a female mess alone in the area.
She went to bed on Saturday night. Other students of the mess found her hanging from the ceiling at her room around 4:30 AM and informed police.
Being informed, a team of police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital morgue, the police official said.
She might have committed suicide, the OC suspected.
JnU proctor Professor Tajammul Haque visisted the spot just after receiving the news.
They were looking into the matter, he added.
