Six nabbed with drugs in four districts

Six people people were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in four districts - Rangpur, Dhaka, Kurigram and Mymensingh. 

RANGPUR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13, in two separate drives, arrested three persons along with drugs from different areas in the district on Thursday night.
 
 "The seized drugs included 23 kilograms of hemp and 199 bottles of phensedyl," said a press release issued by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Hasan on Friday.

He said that acting on a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-13 searched a three-wheeler at SK Bazar in Purbo Echli Village under Gangachara Upazila of the district and arrested one person along with 199 bottles of phensedyl from the spot.

The detainee is Md Rintu, 35, son of Shamsul Haque, hails from Purba Sindurna Village in Hatibandha Upazila of Lalmonirhat District.

Another operational team of RAB-13, in a drive, searched a truck, seized 23 kilograms of hemp and and arrested two persons from Ershad Nagar area in the city on Thursday night.

The arrested persons are: truck driver Md Manik Mian, 40, son of late Abdul Mannan of Kachhna Village under Haragachh Police Station (PS) and his helper Md Tofazzal Hossain, 27, son of Aynal Haque of Panjarbhanga Village under Kawnia Upazila in the district.

After filing of two separate cases under the Narcotics Control Act, the elite force handed over the arrested persons to the PSs concerned for further legal actions, the RAB official added.

SAVAR, DHAKA: Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a drug peddler along with 1,005 bottles of phensedyl from Alamnagar Sugandha Housing under Savar Model PS in the district on Thursday night.

The arrested man is Jubayer Hossain Jewel, 40, a resident of Atargachiya Village under Amtali Upazila in Barguna.

Police said that on information, a team of the law enforcers led by Sub-Inspector Anowar Hossain conducted a drive in a room on the second floor of Sugandha Housing and arrested Jubayer along with the phensedyl.

He was an accused in several cases including drugs.

Officer in-Charge (OC) of the DB Police (East) Jalal Uddin confirmed the matter.

PHULBARI, KURIGRAM: Police arrested a drug dealer along with four kilograms of hemp from Phulbari Upazila in the district early Thursday.

The arrested person is Shah Alam, 42, a resident of Kishamat Shimulbari area under Nawdanga Union in the upazila.
 
Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers led by Phulbari PS OC Mamunur Rashid conducted a drive in the area, and detained Shah Alam along with the hemp.

After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Phulbari PS, the arrested was sent to jail on Thursday noon following a court order.

NETRAKONA: Police, in a drive, arrested a man along with five kilograms of hemp from Purbadhala Upazila in the district on Wednesday night.

The arrested person is Md Shahjahan Mia, 44, son of late Julhas Uddin alias Genda Mia, a resident of Kashiganj Chhandadhara Village under Tarakanda Upazila in Mymensingh District.

It was known that on information, a team of the law enforcers from Shyamganj Police Investigation Centre conduced a drive in Isabpur area under Shyamganj Gohalakanda Union under Purbadhala Upazila at around 8:30 pm, and arrested Shahjahan Mia along with the hemp.

Shyamganj Police Investigation In-Charge Inspector Md Nurul Amin confirmed the matter, adding that a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Purbadhala PS in this regard.
