15 shops, two houses burnt in Rangamati, Noakhali

At least 15 shops and two residential houses were gutted by fire in separate incidents in two districts - Rangamati and Noakhali.

RANGAMATI: At least four shops were burnt into ashes in a fire that broke out at Tabolchori in the district early Thursday.
The incident took place at around 3 am in front of Kali Temple in the area.
Rangamati Fire Service Deputy Director M Ansar said that the fire originated from a shop in front of Kali Temple at around 3 am, and it soon spread to the nearby shops.

Locals tried to douse the blaze but failed and informed the Fire Service.

A unit of Rangamati Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control after an hour of effort.

The fire resulted in damage of goods worth around Tk 1 crore, the Fire Service official added.

NOAKHALI: At least eleven shops and two houses were gutted by fire that broke out in Hatiya Upazila of the district early Thursday.

The incident took place at Afaziya Bazar under Sukhchar Union in the upazila at around 12:30 am.

Hatiya Fire Service Station leader Harunur Rashid confirmed the incident, saying that the fire originated from a cosmetic shop and engulfed it to adjacent shops. Locals tried to douse the blaze but failed and informed the Fire Service.

On information, two units from Hatiya Fire Service Station rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire after two hours of frantic effort, he said.

The fire might have originated from an electrical short circuit, which resulted in damage goods worth around Tk 20 lakh, the Fire Service official added.
