Two 'commit suicide' in Natore, Rajshahi

Two women allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in two districts - Natore and Rajshahi.

BAGATIPARA, NATORE: A housewife reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself out of huff with her husband in Bagatipara Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.

The incident took place in Kamarpara area under Faguardiar Union of the upazila at around 9:30 pm.

The deceased was identified as Afroza Begum, 23, wife of Ashiq Hossain, a resident of the area.

Police and local sources said that Afroza wanted to visit her parents' house, but Ashiq prohibited her. Following this, an altercation took place between the couple on Tuesday night. As a sequel to it, Afroza hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of a room in the house.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Wednesday morning.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagatipara Model Police Station (PS) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken after investigation.

BAGHA, RAJSHAHI: A housewife reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a branch of a tree in Bagha Upazila of the district on Monday.

The incident took place in Chandragathi Village under Bazubagha Union of the upazila at noon. The deceased was identified as Aklima Begum, 25, wife of Askan Ali, a resident of the area.

It was known that Aklima Begum had been suffering mental illness for a long time. She has a daughter and a boy. Her husband went outside around one month back for his work.

Following her illness, she hanged herself with a scarf from a branch of a mango tree beside their house on Monday. Locals then spotted her in hanging condition and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Bagha PS OC AFM Asaduzzaman confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this connection.
