Workers, who failed to go Malaysia despite paying fees to the recruitment agencies, took position in front of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry after police removed them from Karwan Bazar.
Earlier this morning, hundreds of workers started demonstration in the Karwan Bazar area, blocking vehicular movement on the busiest road. Later they were heading towards the Overseas Employment Ministry as police requested them to clear the roads.
A severe traffic congestion was created on the Karwan Bazar, Banglamotor and Shahbagh-bound roads for the protest procession.
The protesters alleged that around 18,000 people failed to go to Malaysia, despite paying lakhs of money to different agencies. However, there have been no visible initiatives from the government to either facilitate their migration or compel the recruiting agencies to refund their money.
They said they will continue the movement until they gave assurance from the interim government.
Md Sabbir, one of the victims, announced that the government must send the workers within February 20.
