Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, extended an invitation to Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, to attend the upcoming security summit in Munich, scheduled for February.

The invitation was made during a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
During their discussion, the two dignitaries touched upon several critical issues, including the July uprising, Bangladesh’s relationships with its neighboring countries, the ongoing Rohingya crisis, and the rise of online misinformation. Ambassador Heusgen pointed out that online platforms like Facebook are often exploited to spread fake news and disinformation about Bangladesh. He suggested that Bangladesh could consider adopting similar measures to those in European nations, such as implementing a law requiring online platforms to fact-check the content they distribute.

The meeting was attended by Lutfey Siddiqi, Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser, and Lamiya Morshed, SDG Coordinator.
