Chittagong Kings secured an emphatic 111-run victory over Durbar Rajshahi in their Bangladesh Premier League match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.
The Kings delivered an all-round performance, led by Naeem Islam's stellar fifty and key contributions with the ball.
Opting to bat first, Chittagong posted an imposing total of 191 for eight in their 20 overs. Naeem Islam top-scored with a commanding 56 off 41 balls, striking five fours and three sixes. Graham Clark contributed a quickfire 45 off 28 balls, while skipper Mohammad Mithun added a solid 32 off 20 deliveries.
Despite Taskin Ahmed’s economical spell of 2 for 23 and Mohor Sheikh’s 2 for 46, Rajshahi struggled to control Chittagong's momentum in the death overs.
In response, Rajshahi collapsed under pressure, managing only 80 runs in 14.2 overs. The innings got off to a disastrous start, losing three wickets within the first three overs. Anamul Haque, who shone in the previous match, was their top scorer with 21 runs, while Akbar Ali added 10. The remaining batters failed to reach double figures.
Naeem Islam continued to shine, claiming two wickets for just six runs in his three-over spell. Shoriful Islam also impressed, taking two wickets for 10 runs, effectively dismantling the Rajshahi lineup.
With this victory, Chittagong Kings now have 10 points from eight matches, positioning them second on the table. Rangpur Riders lead the standings with a perfect record of eight wins, securing 16 points.
