Workers from RN Knit Textile Limited in Narayanganj's Fatullah upazila, on Monday staged a protest blocking the Dhaka-Narayanganj old road near the district police lines to press for their 12-point demands.

The protest began on Monday (January 20) around noon when workers marched from the factory premises to the police lines and staged a blockade on the road.
When the police attempted to disperse them, the workers declared they would not withdraw their protest until their demands were met.

Later, the district administration officials along with representatives from the district police and industrial police held discussions with both factory owners and workers to resolve the issue.

By 1:00 PM, the workers withdrew the blockade. The demonstration caused severe traffic congestion on the road.

Selim Badsha, Inspector (Intelligence) of Narayanganj Industrial Police, stated that the workers were protesting both for their 12-point demands and against layoffs. "Our industrial police, along with the district administration and district police, mediated discussions between the owners and workers to resolve the matter," he said.

Later in the day, RN Knit Textile Limited and United Costume Limited announced an indefinite closure of their factories by posting a notice.

The notice stated, "For the information of all officials, staff, and workers, it is hereby declared that under Section 13(1) of the Bangladesh Labor Act 2006, all sections of RN Knit Textile Limited and United Costume Limited located at West Isdair in Fatullah, are closed indefinitely effective January 19. The reopening date will be communicated later through further notices."
