A court of Dhaka on Monday placed on a five-day remand of Dr Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, former lawmaker of Dhaka-7 constituency and Awami League (AL) leader, in a case filed over the murder of trader Abdul Wadud in the capital's New market area during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Jashita Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, granted the order after he was produced before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Earlier, he was arrested from Dhaka's Mohammadpur area on Monday morning.
It was learnt that on July 19, 2024, Abdul Wadud was killed in front of the New Market in the capital during a protest movement. Abdur Rahman, Abdul Wadud's relative, filed the case on August 21 against 130 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
