A housewife committed suicide by hanging herself with a tree at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district on Monday noon.
The incident happened at Chandragathi village under Bazubagha union in the uppazila.
The deceased was identified as Aklima Begum, 25, a wife of Askan Ali, a resident of the area.
It was learnt that Aklima Begum had been suffering mental illness for long time. She has a daughter and a boy. Her husband went outside around one month ago for his work.
Following her illness, she hanged herself with a scarf with a mango tree beside their house. Locals spoteed her in hanging condition and informed police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, said AFM Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Bagha Police Station.
