A letter has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Sunday (January 19) to remove deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina's daughter Saima Wazed Putul from the post of regional director of World Health Organisation (WHO).
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sent the letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
Addressing a press briefing at the ACC head office at Segun Bagicha in the capital on Sunday, the anti-graft watchdog's director general (Resistance) Md Akhter Hossain said the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina used her power unethically to secure the appointment of her daughter Saima Wazed Putul as the regional director of the WHO though she had no eligibility to become the Regional Director of Southeast Asia.
"After examining the preliminary information of the allegation, investigation is now going on. On January 15 last, the ACC decided to investigate the matter of Saima Wazed Putul," he said.
Replying to another question, the ACC director general (Resistance) Md Akhter Hossain said, "The investigation team will send letters and take necessary steps wherever and whenever needed regarding Saima Wazed Putul."
He also said detailed information would be disclosed after the investigation in this regard.
