9 shops gutted in Ctg

At least nine shops were completely gutted in a fire that broke out at Banshkhali upazila in Chittagong district early Sunday.

The incident happened at around 1:00am in Sayed Ahmed Tek area under Khankhanabad union in the upazila.

It was learnt that the fire originated from a shop in the area and engulfed the adjacent shops. 

On information, two firefighting units from Banskhali Fire Station rushed to the spot and brough the blaze under control at around 2.30 am with the help of locals, said Md. Mizanur Rahman, officer of Banshkhali Fire Service and Civil Defence Station.
 
"The fire originated from an electrical short circuit, he added.
Tthe victims claimed that the fire damaged properties worth about Taka 25 lakh.
