The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a raid at the residence of Sitanshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury, former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, in Dhanmondi and seized Tk 17.25 lakh in cash.
ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain acknowledged the matter on Sunday (January 19) and said ACC Director Md Saimuzzaman led the raid.
He said detailed information about the raid will be shared soon.
Earlier, on January 14, an ACC team, led by Deputy Director Nazmul Hossain, in association with the Intelligence Department arrested SK Sur Chowdhury as he failed to submit an asset declaration.
He was shown arrested in a case filed against him on December 23 last and later, he was produced before a court.
The anti-graft watchdog started investigation against SK Sur Chowdhury in 2022 after his name surfaced in connection with the PK Halder financial scandal, a high-profile corruption case involving embezzlement and money laundering.
SK Sur Chowdhury had retired from his position as Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank in January 2018.
