An auto-rickshaw driver was killed and three passengers were injured in a road accident in Narayanganjs Bandar Upazila on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred in the morning at Bandar bus stand on the Madanpur-Madanganj road.
The dead was identified as Asad Mia, son of late Amir Hossain, a resident of Puran Bandar area in the upazila.
Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tarikul Islam said that a speedy truck hit a battery-ran auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The auto-rickshaw driver Asad died on the spot and three passengers were injured.
On information, police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The police were trying to detain the truck and its driver, the OC said.
Meanwhile, a group of villagers blockaded the Madanpur-Madanganj road falling trees demanding immediate arrest of truck driver.
Police, later, brought the situation under control, the OC added.
