Criticizing the role of government agencies and district level officials for creating barriers related to registration and funding clearance, Civil Society Organisations (CSO) leaders on Saturday urged for elimination of the bureaucratic barriers and open and free space for raising voice for environment.
They urged at a seminar in connection to Global Partnership on Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC), a state-led process for cooperation among state, market and civil society 4th Monitoring Round (MR), held in CIRDAP auditorium jointly organized by COAST Foundation, CDP and BDCSO Process.ERD Additional Secretary AHM Jahangir, also national coordinator of GPEDC 4th MR, presided over the seminar while Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Executive Director of COAST and South Asia Civil Society focal of GPEDC, moderated.
Dr Sohel Iqbal of COAST and Ziaul Haque Mukta of CSRL jointly presented the keynote. Among others, Jahangir Hossain Masum of CDP, Luca De Fraia, Co-Chair of GPEDC, Ben Morgan as UNRC Representative, Sardar M Asaduzzaman, Assistant Resident Representative of UNDP, former Additional Secretary Dr Rezaul Bashar Siddique, Deputy Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Gawher Nayeem Warha of Disaster Forum, Sharif Jamil from DORA, Abu Nayeem of FBCCI, local female entrepreneur Taslima Miji, and KAM Morshed BRAC also spoke the seminar.
Dr Sohel Iqbal in his keynote presentation mentioned key achievement from the conferences from Rome to Kampala, he elaborated five principles from Kampala conferences including local ownership, result orientation, accountability and transparency and leave no one behind.
