Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday said that fight against bribe-takers, corrupt and extortionists will continue until justice prevails in the country as those are yet to end.

"Fight against bribe-takers, corrupt and extortionists will continue until justice prevails in the country as those are yet to end. I am humbly urging those who are still extorting and encroaching since August 5 to stop this practice. Souls of the martyrs will be hurt and our humanity will be insulted if it continues," the Jamaat Ameer said while speaking as chief guest at an activists' conference at the historic Madrasa compound in Rajshahi.

Dr Shafiqur also urged people to refrain from taking or giving bribes at offices and courts.

"Do not hurt those who took to the streets and joined the movement with the intention to become martyrs. Those who will not pay heed to our request must remember that the fight is yet to be over. Our fight will continue until justice prevails in the country," he added.

The Jamaat Ameer also said his party wants to build a humane and corruption-free Bangladesh.

"We want to build a corruption-free, extortion-free Bangladesh based on equity and welfare. To do this, we need to continue our fight," he further said.

He urged the party leaders and activists to establish the rule of Quran in the country.

District Jamaat Ameer Dr Keramat Ali presided over the programme while central Nayeb-e-Ameer Prof Mujibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, central leaders Md Sahabuddin and Nurul Islam Bulbul, Rajshahi city unit Secretary Emaj Uddin Mandol, Assistant Secretary Shahadat Hossain and District Secretary Golam Mortuza also spoke.
