European Union continued to be the dominant market for Bangladesh, importing 50.34 per cent of total ready-made garment (RMG exports) products of the country, amounting $19.37 billion in 2024.
In the year RMG export from Bangladesh grew by 7.23 per cent to $38.48 billion compared to the previous tear (2023), amid political unrest at home and abroad, according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
During the period US imported RMG worth $7.2 billion from Bangladesh, accounting 18.72 per cent of Bangladesh's total garment exports in the year, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data.
The UK contributed $4.3 billion, representing an 11.25 percent share. Within the EU, key markets included Germany, which imported $4.83 billion, followed by Spain with $3.42 billion, and France with $2.14 billion. Additionally, Canada imported RMG worth $1.24, accounting for 3.23 per cent of the market.
Bangladesh is also making notable progress in non-traditional markets like Japan and Australia, reflecting efforts to diversify. Non-traditional markets contributed $6.33 billion, that is 16.46 percent of total RMG exports from Bangladesh.
Among these markets, Japan led with $1.12 billion, followed by Australia at $831 million, India at $606 million, Turkey at U$426 million, and Russia at $343 million.
